WIST, March 1 -- The 2024 Spring Semester Opening Ceremony for International Students was held. Somphit Yoma, vice director of Nakhon Vocational College (NVC) of Thailand, and Dorruedee Chanchao, a teacher of NVC, attended the ceremony. WIST president Wei Shaofeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee Chen Changjiang, heads of relevant functional departments, and faculty representatives from the School of International Cultural Exchanges (SICE), School of Economics and Management (SEM), School of Business and Trade (SBT) attended the opening ceremony. Mo Xiaojin, dean of SICE, presided over the opening ceremony.
Wei, on behalf of WIST, extended a warm welcome to the leaders of NVC and the international students from Thailand enrolled in the spring semester of 2024. He introduced the cooperative achievements in vocational education between WIST and institutions in Thailand, hoping for high-quality collaboration projects between the two colleges. Simultaneously, he said that the international freshmen should cherish the opportunity to study in China, comprehensively enhance their “Chinese + professional skills,” and become friendly messengers for cultural exchanges between China and Thailand.
Yoma delivered her gratitude to WIST for providing valuable learning opportunities for students of NVC. Furthermore, she added that the two colleges will further strengthen cooperation in professional talent training, faculty development, and digital resource advancement.
Zhou Yun, secretary of the General Party Branch of SEM, introduced the education of international students in the School. She hoped that international students can study together with teachers and students from China and have a joyful and fulfilling study in China experience.
Sriprom Oranut, a representative of the freshmen, expressed her thanks to WIST for the opportunity of study in China. She will value her time at WIST, and study diligently to improve both her Chinese language level and professional skills, in order to establish a solid foundation for her future career, she said.
At the opening ceremony, Wei, on behalf of WIST, presented the WIST emblems to the Thai students and signed a vocational education cooperation agreement with Yoma.
The Thai students enrolled in the spring semester of 2024 will study the majors of Tourism Management and E-commerce at WIST.
