WIST, November 16 -- The special session on international education cooperation of the 23rd Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China (COCPD) was held at Wuhan East Lake International Convention Center. More than 200 representatives from Chinese and foreign universities gathered to discuss the international exchange and development of higher education. WIST president Wei Shaofeng attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Wei signed a contract on behalf of WIST with Politeknik Negeri BenKalis from Indonesia, aiming to establish cooperation between the two colleges in the field of “Chinese + vocational skills” for ship-related majors.
At the Symposium, reps of Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, and WIST shared their experiences representing colleges affiliated with ministries, provincial undergraduate colleges, and higher vocational colleges. The theme of the symposium was “Building a hub for opening up education in central China.” Wei delivered a report titled “Embarking on a Voyage with Ships to Chart a New Course for Vocational Education.” He introduced WIST’s vocational education opening up to the world through three aspects: “promoting the localization of high-quality resources,” “conducting international talent training,” and “serving enterprises to go global".
2023 COCPD was co-hosted by the People’s Government of Hubei Province and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and organized by the Education Department of Hubei Province. The special session has been held for seven editions, successfully facilitating cooperation between nearly 70 Chinese and foreign universities. It serves as not only an indicator of international exchanges and cooperation in education in Hubei Province but also an important connection and bridge for communication and collaboration among global institutions.
