WIST, November 10 -- Myanmar Ambassador to China Tin Maung Swe and Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Center Shi Zhongjun led a delegation to visit the Hubei Provincial Department of Education. Huang Shihua, secretary of the WIST Party Committee, attended the meeting between leaders of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education and the Myanmar delegation.
The delegation was received by Zhang Xingping, deputy secretary of the Education Working Committee of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee. Other attendees included senior officials from the Vocational Education and Adult Education Division, Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Division, and WIST. Ambassador Tin Maung Swe and Ambassador Shi Zhongjun highly recognized the education opening-up policy in Hubei Province. Ambassador Tin Maung Swe stated that Myanmar highly values the internationalization of education and hopes to engage in extensive exchanges and cooperation with the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, particularly in the areas of teacher-student exchanges and vocational education.
Since 2017, WIST has actively engaged in exchanges and collaboration with ASEAN countries in the field of vocational education, achieving favorable outcomes. In 2021, WIST, in partnership with Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited, a member of the Excellent Seafarer Training Alliance, established a vocational education and training base for outstanding seafarers in Yangon, Myanmar. This initiative aims to develop digital maritime training courses that meet international standards based on the needs of international shipping enterprises, provide training for foreign seafarers, and support the international development of ocean shipping companies. Utilizing this symposium as an opportunity, WIST will further enhance educational exchanges and cooperation with Myanmar while promoting vocational education collaboration with ASEAN countries.
